December 2016

What makes the perfect Christmas Tree?  Is it the beauty of each branch growing alongside one another? Could it be the color of green, or possibly the smell of pine throughout the house?  What is it about cutting down a tree that makes us all so happy?

It is the comradery of it all.  The tree symbolizes something different for each of us and that is what makes it so special.  Unlike some, I enjoy tramping out into the woods and cutting down the “perfect” tree.  Why? Because it is a family tradition, a tradition that I look forward to seeing continue from generation to generation.  The memories while having a tree in our house are sweet ones that last forever.  This is why it is so important that we continue to get a tree and make many more of these memories.  During this time, we can all put our feet up, relax for a bit, and take a small break from reality.

I was surprised recently by an unnamed person that came into the school with a donation for our students. This person wanted to impact the lives of our community members without anyone knowing.  This person was not looking for recognition and did not require any, this person simply wanted to help others.  In our world today people are obsessed with fame and fortune. Too many times it is all about me, and they forget the true meaning of paying it forward. This act of kindness was a true act of love and giving.  I challenge each of you to spread joy and holiday cheer this season. I also encourage you to be that beacon of light in somebody’s fire place and please remember to pay it forward when you can.

Have a wonderful holiday season!
