May Mayhem

We have been on a roll here in the Elementary.  Currently our classes are getting ready for the yearly field trips.  It is the busy time of year with spring and activities.  As I was looking at the schedule, it seems that throughout the month of May, the calendar is filled with events, almost nightly.  It never seems to change.  on the 10th the 6th grade students have their field day out at Cardwell.  It is always a good experience for these kids, and I appreciate all of the local people that have worked hard to put this event together.  May 11th is our HS/MS JMG Spring Conference that the JMG classes put together for our MS students.  They always plan a day full of relationship building activities.  The date for our K-8 spring concert is on the 12th of May this year and Mrs. Heilig has been busy preparing our students for this event.  I appreciate all of the effort she puts forth into organizing this event.
Other than that our AR Field Trip to Fairmont is scheduled for the 23rd and on the 24th we will hold our K-5 track/field day.  This is also the same night as our 8th grade promotion.  The 26th will be the last day for students.
It's funny how upbeat everyone is with the change of the weather.  I find myself wanting to be out and about without being stuck behind my desk.  As it warms up everyone gets anxious to start getting outdoors.  May is a great month to go outside and get some fresh air!  The birds are chirping, sprinklers are spraying, and the pollen is irritating!  Even so, we are ready to see some green grass and leaves.
In the elementary realm, many teachers use the summer months to familiarize themselves with curriculum and develop their careers professionally.  As a district we are offering two in services to help our teachers do just this with the new curriculum that we have adopted.  I am excited to see our district students progress next fall.
Have a great summer and try to get out and enjoy the outdoors!
